Notes: Entrance to the Vatican Library is via the Sant’Angelo gate. A passport is required for your first entry (your reader’s card permits entry thereafter). Reader’s Cards can be obtained between 10 and 12pm at the admissions office. Once you have your card you need to use it throughout your stay in the Library: 1. Register at the front desk; 2. Obtain access to a locker; 3. Entrance into the Library; 4. Register at the front of the Manuscript reading room; 5. Scan card to order up manuscripts; 6. When you leave, deregister at front of reading room; 7. Scan card to leave library; 8. Obtain items from locker; 9. Check out at front desk. Manuscripts are read in the Manuscript reading room. Three manuscripts may be requested in the morning (before noon). Two further manuscripts may be requested in the afternoon (between 2:00 and 4:00 pm). Manuscripts are delivered within 30 mins of request, often more quickly. Manuscripts are requested by current Fond (Vat.Sir; Borg.sir etc) and number.
